Traits
Mostly very short spines, with occasional longer spines. Some branches develop small patches of variegation. Seeds with “Aroha” as either the seed parent or pollen parent tend to produce high rates of variegated seedlings.
Origin & history
A seed-grown cactus purchased from Castle Rock Cactus Company in the mid-1990s. “Aroha” is the Māori word for “love”.
Notes
Trichocereus pachanoi “Jazz” looks very similar to “Aroha”; several attempts to cross-pollinate them have failed, suggesting they might be the same clone.
