What’s growing? – 16 November 2024

After a couple of years’ break from growing from seed, we’ve started a new batch of San Pedro cactus seedlings, along with related species and a far crosses (such as Trichocereus peruvianus “Martin” × Trichocereus spachianus). We regularly have “pure” San Pedro seeds for sale and ship nationally and internationally.

A few comments about the crosses:

  • (Trichocereus scopulicola × Variegated Red Grandiflorus) × Trichocereus huasca (orange flower) – The Trichocereus scopulicola x VRG is a fairly well known cross from Misplant.net. Our young seed-grown cactus flowered at about 3 years of age, but hasn’t flowered again since. Trichocereus huasca has been reclassified as Soehrensia huascha.
  • Echinopsis cv “Sunset” × Echinopsis subdenudata – a little hard to see these, as they appear to be all variegated (whitish-pink). Echinopsis subdenudatahas been reclassified as Lobivia ancistrophora.
  • Echinopsis sp? × OP – Seeds from a friend here in Christchurch. He wasn’t sure on the species, but said they are probably Echinopsis.
  • Trichocereus bridgesii “Psycho0” × “MUB3”. MUB3 is a clone from Moonunitbotanica.
  • Trichocereus huasca × Trichocereus schickendantzii.
  • Trichocereus pachanoi “Church Hill” × “Time Warp” – “Church Hill” is a fat San Pedro from Ross G.
  • Trichocereus pachanoi “Notch” × “Guru” grown from seeds produced by Ross G.
  • Trichocereus pachanoi “Time Warp” × “Mot Gold”. From seeds we produced. #SanPedro.
  • Trichocereus pachanoi × PC #Shuracpamba. (from Chavin Herbalists seed)
  • Trichocereus peruvianus “Belfast” × “Blue Peru” – both are similar looking phenotype. From seeds I produced.
  • Trichocereus peruvianus “Martin” × Trichocereus spachianus – Two very different looking cacti. If you adopt the newer taxonomy, then these are an intergeneric hybrid between Trichocereus macrogonus var. peruvianus × Soehrensia spachiana.
  • Trichocereus peruvianus × OP #Jumbo (from Chavin Herbalists seed)
  • Trichocereus santaensis × OP #Chavin de Huantar (from Chavin Herbalists seed)
  • Trichocereus schickendantzii × Trichocereus pachanoi – Two very different looking cacti. If you adopt the newer taxonomy, then these are an intergeneric hybrid between Trichocereus macrogonus var. pachanoi × Soehrensia schickendantzii.
